IT Support

What are you IT operating hours?

Our IT operating hours are the same as our business hours. We are available 9am-8pm Monday to Friday and 9am-2pm Saturday & Sunday.

Do you provide 24/7 support?

Although this isn’t included as standard, we do provide optional 24/7 support. This is especially useful for business-critical infrastructure that is required 24/7 or when employees are located overseas.

Should I use Google or Microsoft?

There is no particularly correct answer to this question. We provide customers with both options to suite a range of different requirements. If you are looking for a very easy-to-adopt solution and only have < 50 employees then we typically recommend Google Workspace.

On the other hand, if you are looking for an IT solution you can grow into and require more enterprise level functionality - such as advanced auditing, permission sets and backups - then we would recommend adopting Microsoft 365.

Do you support remote users?

Yes, we do! Our customers have offices all over the world and we’ve serviced users in the US, Netherlands, Spain and more! Our optional 24/7 service helps support users in all timezones.

What are managed IT services?

Managed IT services is an ongoing service that a company pays for which typically includes: regular support, monitoring, security management, ongoing compliance and site visits. The role of the IT company is to manage and maintain all the technology and acts as an outsourced IT department.

The company providing the IT services is known as a Managed Service Provider, or an MSP.

Network Connectivity

Can you improve my signal strength?

Yes, we can improve your WiFi’s signal strength in several ways. All our access points come with WiFi 6 for maximum signal strength and speeds. We also take into consideration a wide range of factors such as distance, interference and existing cabling infrastructure.

What is the difference between Cat5e & Cat6?

Category 5e & 6 (or Cat for short) refer to a generation of data cabling standards. Further generations represent greater signal distance, strength and bandwidth capabilities. We recommend reading our article to get a deeper understanding.

If you are looking to adopt 1Gbp/s broadband, we recommend upgrading your infrastructure to Cat6 to make the most out of those speeds. Get in touch for a free audit and quote!

Do you perform cabling?

Yes, we do! If you have existing trunking or false ceilings we can upgrade your network with all new cabling. All our cabling work is performed on a weekend to minimise disruption. Other than our standard daily rate, we only charge for the cost of materials used (RJ45 plugs / cabling per metre / etc)

For patching panels and desktops, we source pre-made Cat6 ethernet cables from a reputable vendor.

Microsoft 365

Can you take on my Microsoft 365 billing?

Yes we can. Depending on if you have committed to Microsoft's annual or monthly-rolling plan, we can take on the licensing responsibility and ensure you always have the correct number of licenses.

Can you back up SharePoint?

In addition to backing up all your emails, our backup service also includes SharePoint files at no extra cost.

If you have a compatible NAS and would prefer to hold offline copies of your data we can backup all of your cloud infrastructure for free.

Do I need a Business Basic or Business Standard license?

You will need a licensed account in order to access any Microsoft 365 resources. The type of license will largely depend on if you need the desktop version of Word, Excel, etc and budget.

We will work with you to ensure employees have the correct license to meet their needs.

Google Workspace

Should I use Google or Microsoft?

There is no particularly correct answer to this question. We provide customers with both options to suite a range of different requirements. If you are looking for a very easy-to-adopt solution and only have < 50 employees then we typically recommend Google Workspace.

On the other hand, if you are looking for an IT solution you can grow into and require more enterprise level functionality - such as advanced auditing, permission sets and backups - then we would recommend adopting Microsoft 365.

Can you backup my Google Workspace?

Yes, we can! Traditionally, Google Workspace used to be harder to backup than other platforms. Nowadays, we can backup your Google Workspace emails, calendars & files to the cloud, a server in your office or to a sever in our office.

We get Google from our website provider, is this different?

Yes. Your website/domain provider may offer a Google Workspace package as part of their services. However, this will typically have far fewer features, be harder to scale and become harder to move away from the longer you use it.

Cyber Essentials

Does my business need Cyber Essentials?

Although not often a strict requirement, it's strongly advised that you undertake the certification to help demonstrate strong data security policies and help establish confidence in customers.

How much does it cost?

The accreditation costs £300 (+VAT) with an additional charge for our time to help you prepare your business and ensure all devices are brought to compliance to ensure you pass quickly and hassle-free.

Cyber Essentials vs Cyber Essentials Plus

Both accreditations require you to undergo the same policy implementations. The Plus version requires additional third-party verification to ensure all policies have indeed been put into effect. Whereas the standard Cyber Essentials version is a self-assessment only.

Website Design

Will my website work on smartphones and tablets as well?

Testing popular small-screen devices is an essential step in our development process of creating responsive websites. We believe that responsive website design should be a default standard, not an additional feature. To support this requirement, we test all our work on:

  • iOS Safari: Version 15.5
  • Mozilla Firefox: Version 99.c (iOS)
  • Google Chrome: Version 102.0.5005.67 (iOS)

We currently don’t test Blackberry OS or Blackberry QNX, Opera Mobile, Symbian or other mobile browsers. If you’d like us to test on Android platforms we can also perform this but has to be requested on a per-testing phase basis.

How long will it take to create my site?

The vast majority of sites take 8-12 weeks to complete, with our quickest only taking 1 week to design, build & launch. We want to ensure satisfaction with our final design so product completion is dependent on the number of revisions required to reach your vision.

Another common time sucker is copywriting. We aren’t writers and ask our clients to be prepared with their text beforehand or be ready to write once we get started. Our UX planning stage will really help you outline what info we need from you and our designs will guide you with things like word counts. Ultimately, the faster the writing is provided and designs are approved on your end, the faster your site is completed.

What if I don’t like my site design? How many revisions do you offer?

We typically provide 8 revision periods during the design phase to account for differences in our design compared to your vision. We ask that you provide as much detail as possible in your feedback to make the most of these free revisions.

If you would like to make any further changes or add anything new after development has started, that won’t be a problem as we’ll provide a separate estimate to cover the additional work. Some additional revisions may be included for no extra cost at our discretion.

How can we review the designs our website?

There are many different ways we can showcase our work to you. Our primary method is by sending you a PDF & PNG copy at the end of each revision and on the final sign off of the design phase. We use a platform called Figma to develop our designs, this allows us to also share our designs with you in live time and provide an interactive showcase. This should give you the most interactive preview of your website before development.

How can we see our website progress?

You are entitled to request progress updates from us. These updates will include screenshots as well as interactive live previews in order to best showcase animations/transitions and other elements that cannot be showcased through a static image.

If you have provided us with all the necessary DNS information, we can also link your website to a test subdomain (testing.yourdomain.com) so that you can always get the most up to date version of your website.

Can you finish a partially made website for me?

Unfortunately, no. Our process is pretty comprehensive and isn’t broken into pieces. We can use the text and any relevant images, but structurally, we would need to start from the beginning in order to guarantee the same level of quality our customers have come to expect.

Content Management

Can I add one on later?

Yes! We understand that not all companies need a content management straight away but they may require one in the future to support a growing amount of content.

All our websites are designed with your growth in mind. Meaning they are built with flexibility and modularity to be able to integrate a range of technologies after launch.

Do I need a CMS?

Although common practice, strictly speaking, you do not need a content management system to run a website. It enables you the opportunity to edit your own content, without having to rely on someone to edit the core website code.

If your website content needs to change fairly often or you would like an added level of control over your data, we would recommend using one.

What is a CMS?

A CMS, or Content Management System, is an application that enables you to create, edit and publish new content on a website without the need for changing the core website code.

Will you provide website training?

Yes! Our Content Management System is customised to each website we provide. Therefore all our training sessions and materials are tailored to support specifically your website.

Will you write content for my site?

Content writing is an add-on service available as part of any website development plan. If you need help writing large amounts of content we would be happy to discuss your requirements and provide a quote for time based on the amount of content needed. Our writing style follows a similar one to that of this website.

Will I own the data on the website?

Yes, you will own and be able to access all of the data on the website. If we have developed a custom design for your website, you will also own the rights to the code in their entirety.

Depending on which plan you are on and which content management system you use, this could either be in raw text form, as a JSON file or an export of a PostgreSQL database.
